Roots of Our Practice: A Collective Exploration and Visioning Around Our Sacred Tools and Practices

  • MINKA brooklyn 1120 Washington Ave Brookly, NY 11225 (map)

FACILITATED BY: Jordan Pagán, Sunder Ashni & Baba Ifasanmi
EXCHANGE: $15 - $50 Sliding Scale

As healers and wellness practitioners, we have the best of intentions with our work and tools. However, as we grow in knowledge and awareness along our individual and collective paths, we will periodically need to update our practices to be more inclusive. This enables us to hold deeper space for all our clients in a more meaningful, authentic way. We must unlearn our conditioning and make different choices to change a broken system. And that begins with understanding how we connect with ourselves, our cultures, and the world around us -- and how that is expressed in our work. How can we do that in a respectful manner that does not harm, steal from, or further the racist and destructive practices of colonialism?

This offering is a learning lab and skill share to decolonize our language and practices in the healing and wellness arts. We will explore and discuss identity, cultural appropriation, justice, and equity as wellness professionals through group discussion, mini breakout sessions and games. We will come together in the cooperative spirit of unity and love to consciously step out of old patterns, ways of thinking, being and operating that are not in alignment with who we truly are, or where we want to go. All are welcome.

What Is Sliding Scale?
We offer all of our community offerings and some private sessions by Sliding Scale.
We believe everyone is entitled to heal their wounds so they can thrive; we also believe that the wellness and healing practitioners deserve to make a living wage. In order to make this possible, we ask you to pay as much as you can, so those who might not be able to pay as much can still receive their healing session - this is the idea behind 'paying it forward'. We are all in this together, and we choose to do our best to take care of one another.

Thank you in advance!
