Calling in the Divine Mother :: A 13th Octave LaHoChi & Cacao Healing Ceremony

  • MINKA brooklyn 1120 Washington Avenue Brooklyn, NY, 11225 United States (map)

FACILITATED BY: Jordan Catherine Pagán and Margarita Russolello
EXCHANGE: $40 - $60 Sliding scale

Every culture and belief system honors The Mother in some way. She appears everywhere, and is known by a thousand names. Whatever we call her, she is there. The Mother is the first love we will ever know, and it is through her body, her sacred womb, we emerge. Her love is what we desire most of all. Join us as we gather in ceremony to honor her in her many forms (Our Lady of Guadalupe, Mother Mary, Black Madonna, Our Lady of Montevergine -- to name a few). The Divine Mother brings the energy of hope, solace, trust, and compassion -- the idea that we are all radically, seen, held, and witnessed by the universal mother. This ceremony brings in the medicine of the sun, the moon, the stars, and the serpents, using the image of the divine feminine, the spirit of cacao, and the energy healing modality of 13th Octave LaHoChi.

We will begin by exploring the rich and myriad traditions of our Ancestors, and the various and complicated ways that "motherhood" and spirituality have shaped our lives through sacred conversation. We will then honor the elements, the Earth, and the Divine Mother by drinking ceremonial cacao. Through the cosmic energies of LaHoChi (a hands-on healing modality similar to reiki), we will be welcomed home to our deepest selves as we lean into the trust that we are supremely nourished and held by our greatest mother, the Earth.

Please bring flowers to place upon our communal altar if you feel called, and refrain from caffeine and alcohol on the day of the ceremony.

All peoples are invited to celebrate the universal principles of heart-opening Earth medicine, with particular respect and honor to the indigenous traditions that birthed many of our sacred icons and rituals. A portion of proceeds will be returned to the medicine elders.

Jordan Catherine Pagán is the healer and medicine maker of Ostara Apothecary, based in Brooklyn, NY. Jordan creates plant and stone medicine to heal on multidimensional levels, drawing upon her Yaqui and Puerto Rican heritage and connection with the natural world. She is a Reiki Master, a 13th Octave LaHoChi Master, and also practices Pranayama Breathwork (trained by David Elliott) and Tarot as tools for soul transformation. Jordan recently published the e-book Love and Lightwashing: A Guide to Cultural Appropriation, White Privilege, and the Shadow Side of Spirituality, in collaboration with Spirit Guides Magazine.

Margarita Russolello is of Sicilian, Sardinian, and Napolitana Catholic ancestry, and has been devoted to Our Lady of Guadalupe and the 7 Madonnas of Sud Italia since childhood, however as a queer and non-binary person has learned to reclaim these traditions in a nuanced and liberating way. She is Doctor of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine (DACM), Licensed Acupuncturist (L.Ac.), Reiki Master, LaHoChi practitioner, Breathwork facilitator, herbalist, and multidisciplinary healing artist.
